We are proud that we were able to contribute to the opening of the memorial site in the port of Saaremaa Kõiguste, which commemorates the voyage of the sailing ship Helene to Sweden on September 24, 1944.
Fearing repression by the new government, 483 war refugees escaped from Estonia to Sweden on board the sailing ship Helene across the stormy autumn sea.
